What does it take to successfully participate in Red Chair Travels? Besides acquiring Red, we needed to find a good photographer. When I learned the dates we’d be hosting Red, I posted a request on Facebook asking for a volunteer. One thing we’re blessed with is community partners, and Tiffany Warmowski, Warmowski Photography, didn’t hesitate to offer.
I started out the journey with Tiffany as she shot photos of Glenn and me here at Blessings on State. From there we went down the street to the Governor Duncan Mansion. Have you ever visited the mansion? It’s the only existing Governor’s Mansion outside Springfield, our state capitol. The local DAR manages the home, used for meetings and events. It’s a great location for a wedding, indoors and out. Take the tour to see what life was like during the governor’s term of office.
That was it for me… I was headed out of town! (We weren’t given the opportunity to choose dates for Red to visit – the dates were assigned.) So… I left town and it was all on Tiffany’s shoulders. She enlisted Amy’s help and they went out in the early hours to take photos at various sites in town. She faced some challenges, including rain, as the did the work, but she got it done!
We sure appreciate Tiffany’s willingness to partner with us in Red Chair Travels! As you can see in the photo above, taken by Amy McCombs, Tiffany went to great lengths to get just the right photographs of the Red Chair at our local attractions. This photo was taken at the Annie Merner Chapel on the campus of MacMurray College, Tiffany’s alma mater. I’ve attended several concerts at the chapel and the MacMurray Campus is beautiful!
Stories from the Red Chair’s travels have been chronicled on blogs at each stop throughout its journey. Look for tales of the Red Chair’s travels to Blessings on State Bed & Breakfast here on the blog and on our Facebook page.
