In 2012, Susan and her husband Don moved to Galena, Illinois to purchase Farmers Guest House Bed & Breakfast. Susan completely re-invented the breakfast service at her inn. Her breakfast quickly achieved the title of “Best Breakfast in North America” which captured the attention of the Food Network where she was an episode winning competitor on the Holiday Baking Championship. Susan showcased her baking and cooking skills on numerous local television shows, and most recently was featured in an episode of Family Dinner on the Magnolia Network. Here’s what’s coming up at Blessings on State Bed & Breakfast:
Couples Cooking class – 4:30pm
Romance is in the air as you learn to prepare an impressive Valentine’s Day dinner using locally sourced fresh ingredients. Chef Susan will start by sharing some of her secrets to artfully curating a special charcuterie board which she’ll then share with the class. Next, she will invite participants to assist as she prepares the authentic French dish, Beef Bourguignon, and other dishes before demonstrating the preparation of an easy yet impressive dessert. You’ll take home a recipe booklet with tips and techniques to help you prepare this fine three course meal for your next romantic dinner.
The Cooking Class will be held here at Blessings on State Bed & Breakfast at 4:30pm.

Chef’s Table – 6:30pm
Change for dinner, then come back and join us for a private dining experience where Chef Susan will show off her skills in an intimate dinner party in our formal dining room. Dine on fine china and crystal for this elegant candlelight dinner. Non-alcoholic beverages will be served, and you’re welcome to bring your own favorite wine.
